Playstation3 Darklite Bluetooth Headset For PS3

amazon-ps3-darklite-bluetooth-headset.jpg

While looking for a Blue tooth headset that doesn’t look like all the others on the market, we stumbled upon the EX-01 made by Messiah Entertainment that offers 4-6 hours of continuous talk time and charges via USB. We’re taking bets that this headset will show up in a low-budget science fiction “made-for-TV-movie” within months after it is released in May.

Faces blurred in Google Street View images

GOOGLE has started blurring the faces of people in street scenes pictured on its free online mapping service.

The US internet colossus said it was testing the technology in updated Street View pictures woven into its map of Manhattan and, if successful, would put it to work across its mapping website.

While blurring faces may reduce complaints that snapshots of street life posted with Google Maps results could violate people’s privacy, that was not the motivation for applying the technology, Google said.

When Street View launched in the US last year, it quickly attracted controversy after claims several images breached privacy.

Some images identified men outside strip clubs, women sunbaking in parks and even captured a woman’s g-string as she emerged from her car.

Soon after, Google modified several images to remove or mask the identity of individuals.

However a Google spokeswoman said privacy was not the motivation for applying the new face-blurring technology.

“It is something we have been looking into for quite some time,” she said.

“The purpose of Street View isn’t looking at people, it’s looking at buildings and locations. Obviously, we want to take steps in protecting people’s privacy, but from the beginning we’ve been committed to doing this.”

Google has been working for a year on a way to automatically detect and blur faces in pictures, Google software engineer Andrea Frome said in a blog post.

“Working at Street View-scale is a tough challenge that required us to advance state-of-the-art automatic face detection,” she said.

“We continue working hard to improve it as we roll it out for our existing and future imagery.”

Ms Frome pointed out that Manhattan street view pictures were also modified to allow people to look up to admire skyscrapers and the cityscape.

Street View is available for several US cities and is scheduled to launch in Australia later this year.

Mobile Phone is More Important than Wallet (Survey)

| Print | Rated: 20% by 1 user(s).
Thursday May 15, 2008 5:12 PM CDT – By: Michael Kwan
Click to ZoomAccording to a recent study commissioned by Nortel, people find that their cell phones are more invaluable when away from home than even their keys or wallet. Those surveyed were asked what would be the single item that they would take with them if they knew they had to be outside for more than 24 hours.

Of those surveyed, 38% said that they would choose to take their cell phone, whereas just 30% felt the need to haul around a wallet. I guess that having your mobile phone in an emergency — for both communication and entertainment purposes — is more important than having access to your debit card, but without some sort of mobile payment system in place, you can’t exactly pay for anything with your cell phone.

Interestingly, a full 16% of respondents fall into what Nortel calls the “hyperconnected” category. These are individuals who carry around no fewer than seven devices and have no fewer than nine applications to accomplish their work and personal mobility needs. These “hyperconnected” individuals are projected to hit 40% of the population in just five years.
